Last winter, to celebrate his first ATP semifinal appearance (Moscow's Kremlin Cup) and ever-climbing world ranking (37, for the moment), Serbian tennis ace Janko Tipsarević enjoyed a hard-earned 10-day respite in the Indian Ocean's idyllic Maldives. His tardy luggage arrived just in time for the last two. While such a snafu would pose a problem for the business-class caste, for a guy used to training six hours a day in track suits, shorts, and T-shirts, it wasn't exactly a stretch. "I feel lucky," Tipsarević says, relishing the week spent in only the most basic warm-weather wardrobe, "because I don't think it's easy being a slave to clothes." The ultramodern surfside essentials shown here are intended to prevent just that. Muted patterns and classic cuts take you on and off the beach, and will serve well anyone who, like Tipsarević, is looking to let everything else slip away.
