Re-Con Mission

Recently I've had a lot of requests to blog more often, and I'm going to play around with the format so that I can do shorter segments (albeit with the same focus and character) more often. Not to say that I won't ever do long blogs again, but I'm changing it up a bit for now. As always, comments are welcome.

While we're on the topic of Converse, I found these guys in my archive and wondered... Are they all employees of the same store (they were found within blocks of each other) or is this how guys in Soho interpret the casual office look? Soho, NYC, 2007.

This guy -- his name is Brian -- was my salesperson at the new John Varvatos store on the Bowery yesterday -- which, by the way is the coolest store I've seen in a very long time -- it's in the old CBGB space and it has amazing vintage speakers and stereo systems, an incredible selection of worn-in-looking, albeit new, boots and beautifully cut classic suits -- it's the ultimate men's store. Anyway, I couldn't figure out why he looked so familiar until I went to post my blog today and it all came rushing back to me. Soho, NYC, 2008.

And here's the uptown version of that same idea...a little preppier and he's in navy instead of black. Madison Avenue, NYC, 2008.

I love John Varatos, he's one of my favorite designers. I don't know it looks like the first two guys may work at the same store, it would be great to have a uniform like that. And I love the idea of wearing a suit like the third guy did. I also agree that having a few short posts a week and then one long post would be great. It would give us more stimulation and more to comment on, plus something more for you to do. Great idea!

My guess is Club Monaco, this outfit (slim straight jeans, black satin tie, white shirt) is included in our spring/summer uniform, just a guess, as it's hard to see the detail of the shirt and jeans. I will be visiting NYC this summer and can't wait to check out the John Varvatos store!
